भक्ति का छल करना कदापि मंगलदायक नहीं होता

स्नेह के पात्र,
तुम्हारा एक पत्र कोलकाता में रहते समय ही मुझे प्राप्त हुआ था, पत्र पढ़कर मुझे प्रसन्नता हुई। तुम्हें अपने किए हुए निन्दनीय आचरण के लिये जो पश्चात्ताप हुआ है, यही तुम्हारे मङ्गल का लक्षण है।

हृदय में यदि यह भाव निष्कपट रूप से उदित हुआ है। तुम्हारे और तुम्हारी यही भावना स्थायी रहती है, तो तुम भविष्य में पारमार्थिक उन्नति एवं सुख प्राप्त कर सकोगे श्रीहरि स्वयं तुम्हें शक्ति प्रदान करेंगे एवं तुम्हारी सहायता करेंगे।

लोगों को दिखलाने के लिये भक्ति का छल करना कदापि मंगलदायक नहीं होता, किन्तु यदि अन्तर्हृदय से श्रीकृष्ण भजन का आग्रह होने पर वे ही स्वयं हृदय में प्रेरणापूर्वक बुद्धियोग प्रदान करेंगे। बहिर्मुख लोगों के द्वारा प्रशंसा अथवा निन्दा करने पर भगवद्भक्त विचलित नहीं होते। तुम निष्ठा के साथ श्रीहरिभजन के लिये प्रयत्न करना । तुम किसी भी व्यक्ति की निन्दा मत करना। यदि वे असदाचारी भी हों, तब भी उनके साथ कभी कलह नहीं करना। उनके असदाचार के द्वारा कदापि स्वयं प्रलोभित नहीं हो जाना [अर्थात् उनके जैसे कार्यों को करने के लिये लालायित नहीं हो जाना। अपने कर्मफलों का वे स्वयं भोग करेंगे। जब किसी अन्य जीव के प्रति कोई हिंसा करता है तब उसे स्वयं भी वैसी हिंसा को भोगना पड़ता है। इसीलिये शास्त्रविहित उपाय से श्रीभगवद् कृपा द्वारा जीवन धारण करना।

मैं विगत 20 नवम्बर को मंगलनिलय, नारायण दासजी (कपूर), नित्यानन्द गोस्वामी और परेशानुभव ब्रह्मचारी के साथ कोलकाता से यात्रा करके 22 को यहाँ पहुँचा हूँ। एक मास तक मैं यहाँ रह सकता हूँ। 7 जनवरी से कोलकाता मठ का वार्षिक उत्सव आरम्भ होगा। मैं उससे पहले कोलकाता लौट आऊँगा। तुम मेरा स्नेह – आशीर्वाद ग्रहण करना।

Dear recipient of my affection,
I received one of your letters while I was in Kolkata, and I was delighted to read it. It is a sign of good fortune that you feel repentant for your reprehensible conduct. If this feeling makes an earnest appearance in your heart, where it remains persistant, you will be able to make spiritual progress and be happy in the future. Śri Hari Himself will give you strength and aid you.

A pretense of devotion, which aspires only to show off to people,never yields auspiciousness. If, however, from the core of your heart you are truly eager to perform śrī kṛṣṇa-bhajana, He will inspire a suitable synthesis of insight in your heart. A devotee of the Lord is never distracted by praise or the criticism of antagonistic persons. Strive to perform bhajana of Śri Hari with firm conviction (niṣṭhā), and criticize no one. Even if someone acts inappropriately, never quarrel with him. Do not become enticed, at any point, by his illicit behavior. He will have to endure the results of his actions. If anyone harms another living entity, he incurs that same harm. That is why one ought to follow the directives of scripture and maintain one’s life by accepting śri bhagavat-prasāda, the remnants of what is first offered to the Lord.

I traveled from Kolkata on 20 November with Mangala- nilaya, Nārāyaṇa dāsa-ji (Kapoor), Nityananda Gosvāmi and Pareśānubhava Brahmacāri and arrived here on the 22nd. I may stay here for one month. I will return to Kolkata before the annual festival at the Kolkata matha, which starts 7 January.
