साधु एवं शास्त्रों के निर्देशानुसा

स्नेह के पात्र,
तुम्हारा दिनांक 19/10/74 का लिखा पत्र कल सन्ध्या के समय मुझे प्राप्त हुआ।

हम लोग आज प्रातःकाल बागड़िया धर्मशाला में आये हैं 29 नवम्बर तक यहीं रहेंगे। मैंने ऊपर वासस्थान का उल्लेख कर दिया है।

तुम्हारी पुरी आने की इच्छा है, इसमें कोई बुराई नहीं है किन्तु पुरी में मठ के लिये श्रील प्रभुपाद के जन्मस्थान पर हमने जिन घरों को क्रय किया था, किरायेदारों ने उन घरों को अभी तक खाली नहीं किया है। अतः अब उनके विरुद्ध मुक़द्दमा करके हमें उनसे घरों को शीघ्र खाली करवाने के लिये प्रयत्न करना पड़ेगा ।

अतः अभी तुम्हारे यहाँ आने का कोई प्रयोजन नहीं है अभी ग्वालपाड़ा मठ में ही भली-भाँति सेवा करो । श्रीमान् गिरि महाराज के उपदेशों के अनुसार सेवा कार्य करना । गृह के निकट रहने के कारण तुम पुनः पुनः गृह में मत जाना। वह आँखों में बहुत अधिक चुभनेवाला अथवा अशोभनीय है। मठ के बाहर अपनी इच्छानुसार भ्रमण मत करना अथवा इधर-उधर घूमने मत जाना। अभी कार्तिक व्रत में नियम- सेवा के समय नियमित रूप से पाठ तथा कीर्त्तन करना और श्रवणादि सेवाओं में योगदान देना । श्रीविग्रहों की सेवा-पूजा करने में भी विशेष प्रयत्नशील होना ।

यदि बद्धजीव अपनी ही इच्छानुसार चलता है तो उसका मंगल नहीं होता, इसी कारण हम श्रीगुरुदेव के आश्रय में तथा साधुसंग में रहकर उनके एवं शास्त्रों के निर्देशानुसार जीवन निर्वाह करने के लिये मठ में वास कर रहे हैं। अतः तुम भी साधु एवं शास्त्रों के निर्देशानुसार चलते हुये अपना जीवन सफल बनाना।

यहाँ अब हम 26 लोग हो गये हैं। कल 70-80 लोग और आयेंगे। आप सभी मेरा स्नेह – आशीर्वाद ग्राहण करना ।

Dear recipient of my affection,

I received your letter, dated 19 October, 1974, yesterday afternoon.
We arrived at the dharmaśālā this morning, and will stay here until 29 November. I have included the address above. [I understand] you desire to come to Puri. There is nothing wrong with this. But the tenants in the houses we bought for our matha here in Puri have still not vacated, and so we must now file a case against them by which they will be forced to leave the premises.

So, there is no point in you coming here just yet. For now, serve well in the Gwālapāḍā matha. Serve according to the instructions of Śrīmān Giri Mahārāja. Do not go to your home again and again simply because it is nearby. It does not look good at all; it is inappropriate. You should not wander outside the matha as you please, nor should you travel. For now, during the time of niyama-sevā, you should regularly give class, perform kirtana and engage in śravana (hearing) or any other services. You should also exert a concerted effort in serving the deities.

If the conditioned soul acts according to his own whims, he will not meet with auspiciousness. That is why we live in the matha: to carry out our lives according to the ordinances of

scripture under the shelter of sri gurudeva and in the association of sādhus. Therefore, you too should make your life a success by acting according to the guidance of sadhus and scripture.

Today, there are twenty-six of us here. Tomorrow, another seventy or eighty will come. Know that everyone there has my affectionate blessings.
